SEAOSC President's Message October 2026 - Fall is in Full Swing

SEAOSC - Southern CA,

Last week’s Committee Showcase brought us together to learn more about the committees that make SEAOSC what it is. I hope you had an opportunity to hear about committee initiatives, and I encourage you to continue the conversation and contribute to those that sparked your interest. Remember, you don’t need to be an expert to participate, your voice is important!

Our Fall season will continue to be busy. Next, we have our annual Career Fair followed by a joint AIA-SEAOSC Mass Timber Panel Discussion on October 14th. Connect with the leading firms in our area, discover exciting job opportunities, and stay to find guidance on the practical design of mass timber.

Then, on October 24, join our Cal OES Safety Assessment Program (SAP) Training Session and earn your certification to evaluate buildings and facilities following a disaster. Help communities assess damage and safely begin the recovery process.

And register now for our Technical Meeting on November 18th where we’ll be presenting the soon-to-be-released Seismic Isolation and Energy Dissipation Design Guide. Learn the basics of energy dissipation systems and how to practically incorporate them into your designs.

Never taken a timber design course or looking for a refresher? It’s not too late to join our Wood Design 101 online course and strengthen your understanding of wood design fundamentals. Recordings of past sessions will be made available to registrants for a limited time.

Gather your Gingerbread Challenge team now! Join our annual holiday tradition and put your creativity, engineering skills, and craftsmanship to the test.

As you can see, our calendar is full! I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!

And we want to hear from you regarding the three-year plan to modernize how SEAOC and its Member Organizations operate. Find FAQ’s and share your thoughts, feedback, and questions here. Your input will help us move forward together.

With gratitude,

Daniel Fox

2026-2027 SEAOSC President
