SEAOSC President's Message July 2026 - Jump in!

Posted By: Dan C Fox SEAOSC - Southern CA,

As I embark on my term as SEAOSC President, I want to first thank you for the opportunity to serve this remarkable community of brilliant and dedicated engineers. Through this Association, I have gained mentors, colleagues, lifelong friends, and opportunities to make an impact that I never could have anticipated. My hope is that each of you experiences the same sense of inspiration that SEAOSC has given me.

As we look at the year ahead of us, I want to first remind us of our Association’s mission: to advance the structural engineering profession through technical resources, engagement with our communities, professional development, and policy advocacy. That mission has never been more important. The recent Venezuela earthquake is a powerful reminder of the importance of our work and our commitment to the communities we serve.

This year with SEAOSC, I'd like us to focus on creating lasting impact, both externally and within our profession. By advancing retrofit initiatives, engaging with policymakers, and sharing our technical expertise, we can help ensure that Southern California is safer, better prepared for future hazards, more resilient, and more sustainable. At the same time, we must continue investing in the next generation of structural engineers by providing mentorship, leadership development, and opportunities to contribute and grow.

I invite you all to jump in and contribute, whether by joining a committee, mentoring an emerging engineer, or participating in the technical or policy work that shapes our profession. Our impact is strongest when it comes from a collective effort.

I look forward to teeing it up with you at our upcoming Topgolf Outing on July 9th and at our Golf Tournament on August 3rd!

With appreciation and excitement for the year ahead,

Daniel Fox

2026-2027 SEAOSC President
