Professional Bio

Gabriel Acero is a nationally and internationally licensed civil and structural engineer with 30 years of experience in structural design, assessment, capacity research, performance-based engineering, and the evaluation of complex infrastructure systems. His work spans transportation facilities, parking structures, buildings, mission critical and environmental structures, Federal programs, and a wide range of specialized projects across multiple market sectors.
Gabriel has contributed to major transportation initiatives, including service as co-chair of the expert review panel for the Transit Connectors for the metro line expansion in Los Angeles. He has guided teams in meeting demanding performance objectives such as post-earthquake functionality, anti-terrorism resilience, and protection against hurricanes, tornadoes, and flooding hazards. He currently serves as Chair of the Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC) and SEAOSC, Seismology Committee and for the Seismic Isolation and Energy Dissipation Committee (SIED).
He was recognized as the SEAOSC Structural Engineer of the Year for 2025.
