As the Senior Plan Check Engineer, you'll serve as the technical expert leading comprehensive reviews of complex architectural, structural, and building plans for one of LA's most dynamic and iconic cities. You'll guide developers, architects, engineers, and contractors through permitting processes that result in safe, compliant, and beautifully realized developments. Through collaboration with city departments, county agencies, utility providers, and community partners, you'll help drive West Hollywood's continued growth while keeping rigorous safety standards at the center of everything you do.

The ideal candidate brings expert knowledge of California Building Codes, thrives on building strong professional relationships, manages multiple complex projects without missing a beat, and takes pride in clear, proactive communication.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, plus three to five years of progressively responsible experience in plan review, plan checking, and project management. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Required certifications (must obtain within 6 months of hire):

  • ICBO/ICC Certified Plans Examiner
  • ICC CalGreen Plans Examiner

Preferred/desirable:

  • California PE or Licensed Architect registration
  • California Access Specialist (CASp) certification
