Professional Bio
I am a registered professional engineer licensed in California, Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Alaska, Wyoming, Florida, Colorado, Utah and Montana. He earned his degree in architectural engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, in 2013.
I began my career as a consulting structural engineer at Taylor and Syfan Consulting Engineers (now T+S Structural), spending six years working on a diverse range of projects, including podium structures, custom residential buildings, bridges, historic retrofits, schools, and deep foundation systems. This work provided a strong foundation in structural analysis, detailing, project management and coordination across multiple project types.
In 2019, I joined Simpson Strong-Tie and worked as a Strengthening Solutions Engineer. In this role, I worked closely with consulting engineers, specifiers, and contractors to support the design and implementation of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) and composite strengthening systems across North America and the Pacific Regions. My responsibilities included design, analysis, technical design support, constructability review, public speaking, education, participation in industry committees, and coordination with trained installers across my territory.
I currently work as a Project Manager and Estimator with F.D. Thomas, Inc. in Sacramento, where I focus on concrete repair, structural rehabilitation + retrofit, and fiber-reinforced polymer projects. My role bridges engineering design and field execution, emphasizing constructability, cost control, and durable repair solutions for existing structures.
I also have a small consulting practice, providing design services to clients outside my role at FD Thomas.
