A Haag Engineering Co. full time mechanical engineer will be handling forensic engineering work for clients throughout the United States. The engineer will be expected to evaluate the cause of failure, extent of damage, and options for repair in a variety of circumstances. Presently, Haag mechanical engineers occupy much of their time evaluating the cause and extent of damage following accidents and failures. The engineer will also be expected to become proficient with inspections and evaluations of various roof and building envelope systems. Short Description:
Civil/Structural Engineer to determine the cause, origin, and extent of structural failures, water intrusions, construction defects and other failures.

Duties/ Responsibilities:
Duties involve the investigation and analysis of residential (emphasis), commercial, and industrial properties for the purpose of resolving claims and legal disputes. Assignments may include foundation settlement investigations, structural assessments, site evaluations, sub-surface investigations and vibration analysis. Prepare oral and written reports that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation. Provide opinions and expert testimony. Other duties include gathering photographic evidence, conducting investigations to document onsite conditions, oversee field-testing, review construction documents, and participate in meetings with other building professionals/attorneys/adjustor/clients.

Skills/ Requirements:
Must posses strong communication skills and be able to deliver presentations to clients for the purposes of both litigation support and marketing. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and able to perform inspections in confined spaces. Must have good writing skills.

Education Requirements:
BS Civil Engineer. 15 years + experience in Civil/Structural Engineering, PE license in California is a must. SE license preferred.

Salary / Wages:
Starting at $90,000 depending on experience.
