SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs engineering tasks related to water and wastewater treatment plant designs, buildings, reservoirs, underground structures and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately. Occasionally site visit for structural observation, and to help site superintendent for site issues and problems.
Prepares structural engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and designs.
Completes a variety of assignments such as preparing structural drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
Reviews contractor and supplier drawing submittals and RFIs and prepare technical responses.
Prepares and issues specifications.
Provides technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as needed.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
4-year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and minimum 6 years of related work experience. Professional Engineer registration is preferred.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Proficiency in utilizing PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required.

Civil/Structural Engineer to determine the cause, origin, and extent of structural failures, water intrusions, construction defects and other failures.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
Duties involve the investigation and analysis of residential (emphasis), commercial, and industrial properties for the purpose of resolving claims and legal disputes. Assignments may include foundation settlement investigations, structural assessments, site evaluations, sub-surface investigations and vibration analysis. Prepare oral and written reports that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation. Provide opinions and expert testimony. Other duties include gathering photographic evidence, conducting investigations to document onsite conditions, oversee field-testing, review construction documents, and participate in meetings with other building professionals/attorneys/adjustor/clients.
Skills/ Requirements:
Must posses strong communication skills and be able to deliver presentations to clients for the purposes of both litigation support and marketing. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and able to perform inspections in confined spaces. Must have good writing skills.
Education Requirements:
BS Civil Engineer. 15 years + experience in Civil/Structural Engineering, PE license in California is a must. SE license preferred.
